Episode 49 - 6.04 Guardians of the Galaxy
In this episode of the Random City Podcast, I briefly discuss one of my new favorite movies, The Guardians of the Galaxy. During the discussion, I share my thoughts on the film, the soundtrack, and some of the Guardians merchandise that is and is not available.
One thing that should be available is the dancing baby Groot that is featured at the end of the film. I mentioned that my wife sculpted an awesome Baby Groot, and it can be found on her Facebook page, and it is embedded below.
I also mention in the episode that the track listing on the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack should be listed in order of appearance. Currently, the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is available from Amazon for only $6.99 for digital download.
The Guardians of the Galaxy songs in order of appearance in the film is as follows.
1. I'm Not in Love (10cc) - Peter listens to this in the hospital in the cold open.
2. Come and Get Your Love (Redbone) - Peter listens to this while dancing around before retrieving the orb.
3. Go All the Way (The Raspberries) - Playing in the background just before Bereet answers Yondu's call.
4. Hooked on a Feeling (Blue Swede) - Blue alien is listening to Peter's Walkman in the prison and Peter gets tazed.
5. Escape "The Pina Coloada Song" (Rupert Holmes) - Blue alien is listening to this when Peter is about to escape the prison, and he reclaims his prized Walkman, before flying to the Milano.
6. Moonage Daydream (David Bowie) - Playing in the background as the enter "Knowhere".
7. Fooled Around and Fell in Love (Elvin Bishop) - Peter plays this for Gamora while waiting to meet with her "buyer" for the orb.
8. Cherry Bomb (The Runaways) - Played as the Guardians are preparing to go battle Ronan.
9. O-O-H Child (The Five Stairsteps) - Playing on the tape player in the destroyed Milano, which Peter uses as a distraction.
10. Ain't No Mountain High Enough (Tammi Terrell) - Technically this is from Awesome Mix Vol. 2, Peter listens to this song from his present from his dying mother near the end of the film.
11. I Want You Back (The Jackson Five) - Presumably from Awesome Mix Vol. 2 as well, this songs plays while Baby Groot dances.
12. Spirit in the Sky (Norman Greenbaum) - Did not appear in the film, but it is rumored that this song was featured in a deleted scene.
